February 2023 Treasure Hunt

Silk and Sonder has posted its February socials on Eventbrite.

Eventbrite has a slew of workshops and classes and gatherings. A lot are free!

Lauren Sapala is doing her Silent Writing Sessions every month this year, I believe.

I had a lovely called with Grace Kerina that I dreaded, because it was about my Diary of a Post-Single Mom Amazon KDP stuff I’ve avoided for 10 years now, but she gave me free advice for 30 minutes. I will definitely use her services for my Sunflower story.

You could read Jeannette Walls’ The Glass Castle this month (not watch the movie) in preparation for her long-anticipated new book out in March called Hang the Moon.

You might want to read Peter Orner’s new book, Still No Word from You. He’s always unique and adorable to look at. I printed his picture and have used it as a bookmark.

Or reserve Curtis Sittenfeld’s Romantic Comedy in a futile attempt to not be 443rd in line at the library come March.

And here’s a hilarious New Yorker article, called The Right Not to be Fun at Work, that a good friend sent me. Anyone who hates those workplace team-building events will appreciate this. (Not participating used to just reflect badly on a person’s performance review back in my “employee” days, until they were cast out/traded to another department.)

Keep an eye on Susannah Conway’s e-course offerings. Sign up for her newsletter and you’ll automatically get a monthly announcement and her free Unravel Your Year and Find Your Word workbooks at the end of each year.

One of my favorite online people, Natalia Colman, also known as the Angel Lady, has a lovely YouTube channel and Instagram account. She also offers online courses and workshops that you can take anytime. I’ve taken a few with her, and particularly loved Path to Purpose!

The annual Art + Sol festival is happening Feb 11-19 in Santa Fe, NM. I’m so glad an old Boulder friend pointed me to this city. It really is a must-see area. Combine that with a 9-day festival full of what looks like pretty cool “sessions” and events.

I watched a heartwarming and cute movie on Acorn TV called Marvellous at the beginning of the month about a man named Neil Baldwin. I watched before I knew anything about anything, and I can recommend doing the same!

My Christmas present feelings this month were hearing from people I haven’t heard from in a while, talking to an actual person in my Silent Writing Session group about nothing specific, and listening to my son tell me things, which is pretty new and made me proud and fuzzy inside.
