December 2022 Treasure Hunt
This year, I have accumulated quite a list of shows and movies that I’ve wanted to watch. It’s trite to list them here, but I’m nothing if I’m not trite right now: Inside Man (we’re all murderers!), Dead to Me, The Offer (could have been half the # of episodes, but that Miles Teller can’t get enough of himself), The Chosen, The Anthony Fauci Movie (believe it or not, I ended this movie feeling more united and hopeful about the country), the Mayor of Kingstown (hard no), Grantchester. And of course, the Christmas ones: The Holly and the Ivy, Remember the Night, Christmas in Connecticut, Love Actually, The Sound of Music, Holiday Affair, The Man Who Came to Dinner, and all the Hallmarks and Great American Family movies .
I’ve started working through Julia Cameron’s Artist’s Way again (last time somewhere in the 2000s) and am enjoying it. She has lovely nuggets like, “ Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace, and power in it” and “Creativity is God’s gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift back to God.” Several links here:
I found Mailer Lite and might set that up for a retreat center newsletter, which is something that Joyce and I had talked and talked about doing before she passed away. She just loved retreating so much.
Lauren Sapala decided to do her Silent Writing Sessions even in December. (So many things shut down, but there are so many people not busy at the holidays. I felt a real sense of belonging to something about this. )
My Christmas present feeling for this month was emailing the University of Dayton about their Senior Fellows Program. When I heard back, I got exactly the information I had requested and a little more and a very nice note.
